Here’s my opinion of AWAL. Interesting but mysterious site.
Summary
AWAL is a music label that sees itself in the forefront of the music revolution because they are taking advantage of the new technologies in the industry. Artists sign up on AWAL. AWAL will digitally distribute and promote their music through a global network, with the guidance of industry experts. Third party licensing, special promotions, sponsorship opportunities, music publishing, A&R, playlists, custom compilations, podcasts, cross-platform content properties and mobile offerings all come under the AWAL aegis. Awal is Currently representing 2,000 clients, 3,000 bands, 63,000 tracks, and has over 5,000,000 downloads throughout the internet.
Pros:

Have      industry experts working 
Many      contacts and lots of experience in order to help bands succeed
Easy      to understand website
Very      professional looking
Represent      large artists like Motley Crue and Moby and then smaller artists that are      up and coming like Nicol
Website      highlights a few artists on the front page
Shows      the label’s latest releases and best sellers iTunes
Cons:

Mysterious      website that doesn’t give too much information
They      have a large presence in England,      so when you click to buy songs from one of the artists, it may be part of      the UK      iTunes store
Users       in the United States       would have to change stores
